About the African American Knowledge Network
On behalf of Maricopa County African American Knowledge Network (AAKN) and its members, welcome to our organization! Your membership is vital to the organization. The more members we have, the more influence we’ll have as an organization.
The AAKN was formed in May 2005 as a result of the vested interest and diligent efforts of many African American Maricopa County employees. It was successfully conceived with the support of the county’s Diversity Office, Hispanic Network and several community leaders.
The Mission of our Organization “is to provide career development and education for all its stakeholders in order to advance their professional career opportunities, promote community engagement and to give voice and value to African American employees within the County.” We envision that all County employees be promoted and advanced based on their own ability and skill and that Maricopa County be a place where diversity is valued and celebrated.
We’re excited that you have made a decision to be a part of our organization. As an active member, we welcome you to participate in any of the various committees that are in place. "It takes team work to make the dream work"!
We also invite you to attend our general Network meetings which are currently held on the second Tuesday every other month 12:00-1:30 p.m. The location is yet to be announced for 2009.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact Terry Lee, Membership Co-Chair at 602-619-2964, or Dolores Ceballos, Service Committee Chair at 602 372-7034.
Again, welcome to AAKN and we look forward to your participation!
