What does the Nurse do in the Jails? The medical
clinics in the jails are set up as ambulatory care facilities. Registered
Nurses perform physical assessments and triage care according to nursing
protocols. The Licensed Practical Nurses administer unit dose medications,
provide wound care management and diabetes care management. Medical
assistants and Patient Care Assistants assist the providers and nurses
to maintain high standards of care.

When does the benefits become available? The benefits
become available the first of the month following your date of hire.

Is the salary range on the announcements quoted according
to your experience? Yes, experience, higher education
and certifications are important to have and will be taken into
consideration with price quotes once you are offered a position.

Is there more than 1 shift? Yes, CHS facilities
are open 24 hours, 7 days a week. There are some facilities that have
12-hour shifts while others have 8-hour shifts available. Staff employees
rotate weekends.

Is there security available on the off shifts? Yes,
the detention staff accompanies all nursing and medical staff during
all healthcare interventions.

Do you need Correctional experience to work at Maricopa County
Correctional Health Services? Correctional experience is a plus but all pervious
health care experience is beneficial to CHS employment.
