Community Development : CDAC Advisory Committee
Members of Community Development Advisory Committee (CDAC) are appointed by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors to provide recommendations for CDBG and HOME Program project funding and perform oversight of the Maricopa Urban County CDBG and HOME Programs.
During the program year, applications are received from local municipalities and non-profit organizations requesting consideration of their projects for CDBG and HOME Program funding. This year CDAC had a formidable task before them. The committee reviewed 12 applications totaling over $4,134,486 in funding requests. This was almost twice the amount of available funds. After a thorough evaluation of the merits of all applications, CDAC made funding recommendations to the Board of Supervisors for 6 CDBG and 3 HOME projects totaling $2,519,625. Among these were sidewalks, curbs and gutters for Buckeye and Guadalupe; downtown corridor sidewalks and street lighting for Goodyear; street improvements for El Mirage and Circle City; alley paving for dust control in Youngtown; Countywide homebuyer downpayment assistance; homebuyer downpayment assistance in El Mirage, housing rehabilitation in El Mirage; and construction of new single-family homes in Guadalupe.
CDAC also oversaw all active projects ensuring that the grant funding would provide much needed assistance for residents of low and moderate income.
