Indian Mesa Ranger Guided Hike - Lake Pleasant
Lake Pleasant Regional Park
This park ranger led six mile round trip hike in the Agua Fria Conservation Area of Lake Pleasant Regional Park is very scenic. We will be hiking in rocky terrain with a good hill climb. Indian Mesa was home to ancient Hohokam Indians and we will see evidence of this past culture. Chances of seeing wildlife here is very good. The views are grand on the mesa over looking the backside of Lake Pleasant. Wear good hiking boots, bring water, a lunch in your day pack, and your sence of adventure. You may not want to forget your camera and binoculars! We will meet at the Lake Pleasant Visitor Center and drive 20 miles to the start of the hike. There will be some room in the van for car pooling. Please call Ranger if you have any questions. This is a "not want to miss" type of hike!

Cabela’s Diamonds in the Rough -Dutch Oven Cooking Demo -Cave Creek Park
Cave Creek Regional Park
Cabela’s has teamed up with two delightful, expert Dutch Oven chefs for an adventure in camp cooking, followed by an interpretive guided hike, thanks to the Maricopa County Parks and Recreation ranger staff. There is no cost to attend the class, but reservations are required (so we have plenty to eat!).

We’ll have cowboy coffee on the stove when you arrive (and water in the cooler) and lots of goodies to taste. Bring a friend, a sense of adventure and interest in learning something new.

Membership in Cabela’s Diamonds in the Rough adventure club is free and open to all ladies with an interest in trying something new and having fun. Nothing more, nothing less! Bring a friend and come on out!

All instruction will be provided by Susan Richins, R&R Catering and Barb Kennedy, Cowgirls Forever, with support from Cabela’s staff.

No dogs, please. Restrooms available.

Nature Hike for Kids with Gary Hillary $10 Donation per person suggested for the Phoenix Permaculture Guild (Cash or check only) Meet at the North Mountain Preserve Visitors Center 12950 N. 7th Street, Phoenix, Arizona 85020 Families are welcome. Kids 8+ can be dropped off, as there will be several adults available to assist. Kids under 8 must be with parent/gardian Limited to 20 participants total. Join Gary for a nature class and trail hike at the North Mountain Preserve, which is home to over 300 species of plants including a wide variety of cacti and native desert plants like Palo Verde trees, brittle bush and creosote. We'll be hiking near North Mountain and Shaw Butte, with spectacular views of the pristine Sonoran desert and home to a wide variety of desert wildflowers. Gary will escort you on a leisurely hike and provide interesting facts about the plant life, history of the area and if we are lucky, you may see some native wildlife that inhabit the park. Please be sure to bring your camera's, water, snacks (if desired), sun screen, and most importantly, comfortable (closed-toe) walking shoes.

Come watch the sky with us under the expert guidance of Tony and Carole La Conte! Come look through telescopes and enjoy a slide presentation under the stars. Learn the names of stars, see the constellations, and listen to stories of the night sky. When visible, view the craters of the moon, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and the rings of Saturn. We will have information about the Challenger Learning Center of Arizona. This is truly a fun night out! Come alone or bring your entire family. No pets please. We encourage you to bring your own binoculars or the family telescope but it is not necessary. Bring lawn chairs or blankets for your comfort. The program lasts about 2 hours and meets at Group Picnic D.
