Holiday Health & Wellness Tip

lightsMake a commitment this holiday season to maintain your emotional health.

The holidays can be emotionally draining. Family pressure, difficult relationships, loneliness, disappointment, and being reminded of a loss can feel even worse at this time of year. Being able to positively respond to the challenges you face takes emotional wellness. Learning to bounce back from tough times – to be resilient – is a key part of emotional wellness. Taking some simple, positive steps can help you get there. The most resilient people are those who know how to ask for help. Surround yourself with the support you need.

Benefit Premium Holiday

The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors approved a one-time Benefit Premium Holiday for certain self-insured benefits. Employees enrolled in a County-sponsored medical plan will not have a premium deduction taken on their December 17, 2014 paycheck for the three bundled plans - medical, pharmacy, and behavioral health. Likewise any applicable premium reductions for having completed the wellness screenings (biometric, health assessment and saliva test) will also be waived.  Premiums for all other benefits will be deducted as scheduled.

Note:  The Benefit Premium Holiday will not have any impact on department budgets.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Change in Eligibility for Group Health Benefits

In response to the October 17, 2014 U.S. District Court ruling, same-sex marriage is now legal in Arizona, and same-sex couples legally married in other states are now recognized as legal spouses under Arizona law.

The eligibility rules for coverage under the Maricopa County Benefits Plan have been updated to allow employees to add their same-sex spouse and eligible dependents to coverage, provided all other eligibility requirements are met.  (Click here for more information.)

Cigna CareToday Clinics Closing

logoCigna has notified us that their two remaining CMG CareToday clinics located at West Thomas Road and Downtown Phoenix (Central and Adams) will be closing as of Friday, November 14, 2014.

As an alternative, the onsite Take Care Health Center located on the second floor of the Administrative Building is available for your non-emergency medical needs, including vaccinations.  There’s also the added convenience of the onsite pharmacy if you wish to have a prescription filled.   When you need preventive or routine care, a visit to your primary care physician is always an option.

The Survey Says...

The annual 2013-2014 Employee Benefits survey was conducted by the Office of Research and Reporting. The results indicate the overall level of satisfaction with Employee Benefits is 94%.
