Important Information About Your April 9, 2014 Paycheck

Benefit premium deductions are based on pay period end dates, not pay dates.  With a few exceptions, this means that months with three pay period end dates will not have benefits-related premium deductions taken on the paycheck that corresponds with the third pay period end date.  In the month of March, there were three pay period end dates:  March 2nd, March 16th, and March 30th.  For this reason, your April 9th paycheck (which is for the pay period ended March 30th), you will not have benefit premium deductions taken.  This includes deductions to pay down any arrears balance you may owe for benefit premiums.

As previously mentioned, there are a few exceptions.  For contributions you have designated to a  flexible spending account, a health savings account, or for premium deductions for auto/home/renter’s insurance and voluntary benefits, you will have deductions taken from your April 9th paycheck.

The Survey Says...

The annual 2013-2014 Employee Benefits survey was conducted by the Office of Research and Reporting. The results indicate the overall level of satisfaction with Employee Benefits is 94%.

Life Insurance Premium Re-calculation Notice

Life insurance premiums for employees enrolled in Additional Life and/or Spouse Life Insurance coverage are adjusted upward every year in January if there was a change in either their or their spouse’s age bracket.  Employees affected by this change will be receiving the following communication in the mail early next week informing them of this change: a Life Insurance premium re-calculation letter, and a chart that lists the age brackets used for life insurance premium calculations.

The higher premium will be collected starting with their January 15, 2014 paycheck.

Change in Catamaran 2014 Advantage Formulary

If you are enrolled in either the Cigna Medical Group Plan (HMO) or the Open Access Plus Plan (PPO), with pharmacy benefits provided through Catamaran, this information is for you.

Effective January 1, 2014 the annual change to the Catamaran Advantage Formulary will take place.

If you are currently taking a medication that will become “Non-Preferred” on January 1, you are encouraged to talk with your physician and ask if a preferred alternative is right for you. If he or she agrees, ask for a new written prescription.  If you choose to continue taking a Non-Preferred medication on or after January 1, you may be subject to paying a higher copay at the pharmacy.

You will be mailed a letter that summarizes the changes to the current formulary, a list of the medications which you are taking that are affected by the change, and the names of possible preferred alternatives. For a complete list of preferred products or for more information on your pharmacy benefit program, log onto www.mycatamaranrx.com.

If you have any questions regarding these changes, contact the Catamaran Member Services Department at 1-866-312-1597.
