The Maricopa County Air Quality Department has scheduled a public workshop to discuss a proposed Supplemental Environmental Projects Policy on August 28, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the 9th Floor Classroom at 1001 N. Central Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85004. Written comments on the proposed policy will be accepted until Monday, September 17, 2012 at 5:00 p.m.
The purpose of this policy is to establish a framework within which proposals for Supplemental Environmental Projects (SEPs) may be considered and which are in lieu of penalties assessed through an enforcement action. The policy provides procedures and standards for determining whether a SEP is appropriate and feasible, and a mechanism for developing a library of pre-approved concepts for SEPs. The proposed policy is designed to assure compliance with the requirements of Arizona Revised Statutes ยง49-117, Supplemental Environmental Projects, requirements; nexus.
