Monetary Assistance

There will be a $50 inspection/processing fee, which will be applied toward the required $150 co-payment. The Maricopa County, Voluntary Vehicle Repair & Retrofit Program will pay up to an additional $550 for emission repairs on each vehicle or an additional $650 for emission repairs where a required retrofit kit is installed.

Once the eligibility requirements have been met on a vehicle, the vehicle must be accepted into the program and the following steps must be followed:

Make an appointment with any one of the authorized repair facilities.

Take your Arizona title, current Arizona vehicle registration, and emission testing failure notice to an authorized repair facility.

Review and sign the required revised customer agreement sheet .

A technician will verify that your vehicle can be repaired and/or retrofitted to pass the required emissions test. There will be a $50 diagnostic fee if the vehicle is removed from the program.

Pay the required $150 co-payment to the repair facility. Maricopa County will pay up to an additional $550 for repair or $650 for retrofit and installation. The program's intent is to repair vehicles correctly the first time; if the estimated cost to do this exceeds the above limits, you may pay the balance or choose to remove your vehicle from the program.
