Fridays Fitness Hike – Trailhead Staging
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
Fridays Fitness Hike – Various locations in Park- ALL Fridays Come to one or all of the Fitness Hiking Series, every Friday. We build up to a longer hike at the end of the month. Please wear sturdy shoes & bring plenty of water. This week's hike starts at the Trailhead Staging Area.

Fitness Friday at Spur Cross
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
September 20 Friday 8:00 am Fitness Friday (moderate) Get your day started with a two-mile brisk, non-interpretive walk along the Metate Trail. Participants need not be tri-athletes, just ordinary folks who would like to begin or add diversity to their existing walking program. Wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water.

Archeology Walk at White Tank Park
White Tank Mountains Regional Park
This is a 1/2 mile hike on a flat trail to one of the largest and most concentrated collection of Hohokam and Yavapai petroglyphs in the Valley. The hike will discuss history and lifestyles of the early native people of the Valley and try to decipher the meaning of some of the ancient rock art symbols along the trail. Area 4 at 8:30 am. No dogs please.

Fun Tying Knots with the Ranger - Lake Pleasant
Lake Pleasant Regional Park
Stop by the Visitor Center for a fun time of learning and tying rope knots. This class last about an hour. Come sit and tie some knots with the Ranger.

"Quick Start Your Canoe" Flat Water Canoeing Class at Cabela's
Lake Pleasant Regional Park
Have you ever wanted to try paddling a canoe? Well here is your chance, both a classroom session (free) and a four hour on-water class ($40) is being offered. Just show up at the Glendale Cabela’s for the classroom session and you can sign up for the on-water session there. Spots are limited, so show up early, to sign up. This course is designed to introduce the beginning paddler to basic canoe skills & knowledge so that they can enjoy the sport of tandem canoeing on flat water. Friday’s informational classroom session at Cabela’s is free to everyone. If you wish to participate in the 4-hour on-water paddle session at Lake Pleasant, arrive at 6PM on Friday to register & pay for Saturday’s water session. Ages 12 & up. The Saturday on-water session will be on September 28th, from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. Join us Friday evening (9/20) for more details.

FREE Beginner Canoeing Classroom Presentation at Cabela's
Desert Outdoor Center
If you've ever wanted to go canoeing but didn't have the necessary skills, then QuickStart Your Canoe is the perfect training for you. This American Canoe Association course is designed to introduce the beginning paddler to basic canoe skills & knowledge so that you can enjoy the sport of tandem (2 person) canoeing on flat water.

Everyone is invited to come to Cabela’s® (in Glendale) on Friday evening for an informational classroom session that is free to everyone. You do NOT neeed to register to attend the classroom session. We will discuss types of canoes, paddles, canoeing gear and safety tips. You will not get wet during the classroom session.

If you wish to participate in the 4-hour on-water paddle session at Lake Pleasant, arrive at 6:00pm on Friday to register for Saturday’s water session. You must attend the classroom session to participate in the on-water session. The registration fee for the on-the-water portion is $40 and class size is limited, so arrive early. Cash or check only please.

PLEASE NOTE: The Desert Outdoor Center is a gated facility, so you must be registered to attend. Gates will be open 30 minutes before each session begins. ***There is no boat ramp access to launch a boat at this facility, so please do not bring your personal watercraft. The boat dock is about a 1/4 mi down from the facility, so please be prepared for a desert hike.

September Full Moon Hike - McDowell
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
There is no better way to experience the desert than on a night hike. Join Ranger Amy to experience the desert come alive by the light of the moon at McDowell Mountain Regional Park. Flashlights are not necessary, but permitted. Bring plenty of water and sturdy shoes. Hiking time is 2 hours, and 3 miles. No pets please. Hikes begin at the Trailhead Staging area. Moonlit hike programs are free with $6/vehicle entry to the Park.

Full Moon Hike - San Tan
San Tan Mountain Regional Park
Discover the beauty of the Sonoran Desert at night, as we hike under the light from the full moon. Join us for a pristine 2.2-mile stroll along the Stargazer Trail. Listen for the sounds of wildlife and explore the night-life atmosphere. The pace of the hike will be relatively mild or slow to help enjoy the surroundings. Flashlights are welcomed.

Join us for this 2-mile hike under the glowing light of September’s “Full Harvest Moon.” This is a great opportunity to experience sights and sounds of the desert at night! Bring your sense of adventure for this interpretive hike with our park ranger, Ranger B. Please bring a flashlight, water, and closed-toe shoes. No pets, please. Location: Trail Staging Area.
