Fridays Fitness Hike – North Trail
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
Fridays Fitness Hike – Various locations in Park- ALL Fridays Come to one or all of the Fitness Hiking Series, every Friday. We build up to a longer hike at the end of the month. Please wear sturdy shoes & bring plenty of water. This week's hike starts at the North Trail.

Healthy Hiking at Spur Cross
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
August 3 Friday 7:00 am Healthy Hiking (moderate) Join us for a 2.5 mile / 1.5 hour aerobic walk through a portion of the Conservation Area. Participants need not be tri-athletes, just ordinary folks who would like to begin or add diversity to their existing walking program.

Estrella Mountain Park
Join Ranger Mark at the Nature Center for a fun movie, “The Goonies!” (rated PG). See what happens when a bunch of young adventurers follow a map in search of Pirate treasure! Kids can search for treasure in our archaeology pit, afterwards! Bring a smile and a picnic lunch to munch on at the playground. Fun!

Wet N' Wild Reptiles of the Lake Pleasant Area - Lake Pleasant
Lake Pleasant Regional Park
The County Parks are getting Wet n' Wild this Summer! Come enjoy the visitor center while you learn interesting things about the native reptiles around Lake Pleasant. For those willing to stay around after the talk, the Ranger will supply food to a rattlesnake and a gila monster! Also watch a tortoise eat his lunch. Come learn about these native reptiles. Just for attending each family will receive a ticket for a drawing of a family pack of four to Wet N' Wild Phoenix Water Park! Program will be at the Lake Pleasant Visitor Center.

All About Desert Edibles - "Brown-Bag It" with Ranger B - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
How have people survived off the land for thousands of years? Which desert plants are edible and when are they edible? If you would like to know the answers to these questions, or any questions you may have about desert edibles, then this one-hour presentation is for you! Bring your sandwich to the “Brown-Bag It” series inside our Nature Center as Ranger B shares some helpful facts about the edible plants of our desert. Location: Nature Center.

Introduction to Kayaking Classroom Program with Cabela's
Desert Outdoor Center
Would you like to try kayaking but don't know where to start? Everything you need to know about flat-water kayaking will be presented at the "Get Wet Beginner Kayaking" program. Lake Pleasant Regional Park, the Desert Outdoor Center, and Cabela’s is presenting a free one-hour informational classroom session that will be held at the Glendale Cabela’s on Friday evening (you will NOT get wet). No registration is necessary to attend the classroom sessions. Then if you wish to try your skills in a kayak, you may sign up for one of four on-the-water sessions that will be held at the Desert Outdoor Center at Lake Pleasant. The $35 registration fee for the on-the-water portion will be collected before the evening classroom session at Cabela’s. Registration will begin at 6:00p.m. on first come, first serve basis. Cash or check only please.

Dates for 3-hour on-the-water sessions are:

August 4, August 18, Sept 8, Sept 22 (pick a 7a.m. or 9 a.m. arrival time)

(Sign up and pay at any of the Friday classes, on-water sessions fill up fast, so first come, first served)

The Desert Outdoor Center is a gated facility, so you must be registered to attend the water sessions. Gates will be open 30 minutes before each session begins.

The boat dock is about a 1/4 mi down from the facility, so please be prepared for a short hike. There is no boat ramp access to launch a kayak at this facility, so please do not bring your personal kayaks.

Night Bugs 2 at White Tank Park
White Tank Mountains Regional Park
A different group of bugs may join us on this event as there are some subtle changes in the weather. Come out and learn about them. This will be in Area 4 and starts at 7: 30 pm. Bring your scorpion lights to this one too. You must register for this class as we will only be able to accomodate about 25 kids.

Adobe Dam Regional Park
Every Friday night from June 1 to August 10, catch a great movie while floating under the stars at Wet 'n' Wild Phoenix’s wave pool - Monsoon Bay or simply lounge around on a deck chair. Dive 'n' Movies begin at sundown and are FREE with Park admission. The majority of the Park's slides and attractions continue to operate during Dive 'n' Movies.
