McDowell Friday Fitness Hike- 4 Peaks (Horse) Staging Area
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
Fridays Fitness Hike – Various locations in Park- ALL Fridays Come to one or all of the Fitness Hiking Series, every Friday. The length of the hikes varies each week. Come prepared to hike 5-miles or more. This week's hike will begin from the 4 Peaks Staging Area. Please wear sturdy shoes & bring plenty of water. Hike led by Kevin B.

All About Desert Quail - Usery Park

What makes our desert quail so interesting? What are those funny-looking things on top of their heads? How do they survive and thrive in our desert? If you would like to know the answers to these questions, or any questions you may have about our desert quail, then this one-hour presentation is for you! Bring your sandwich to the “Brown-Bag It” series inside our Nature Center as Ranger B shares amazing facts about these bustling birds. Location: Nature Center.

Histroy of Water at Lake Pleasant - Lake Pleasant
Lake Pleasant Regional Park
The ranger will enlighten you about Lake Pleasant and how the entire system of water delivery works. History of water in the area and knowledge about the Central Arizona Project will be included in this one hour presentation. Come learn about this important area of Arizona and how it relates to water delivery.

FREE Introduction to Kayaking Classroom Presentation at Cabela's
Desert Outdoor Center
Would you like to try kayaking but don't know where to start? Everything you need to know about flat-water kayaking will be presented at the "Get Wet Beginner Kayaking" program. Lake Pleasant Regional Park, the Desert Outdoor Center, and Cabela’s is presenting a free one-hour informational classroom session that will be held at the Glendale Cabela’s on Friday evening (you will NOT get wet). No registration is necessary to attend the classroom session.

Dates of FREE 1-hour classroom introductory sessions are: August 8, August 22, September 5

Then if you wish to try your skills in a kayak, you may sign up for one of six on-the-water sessions that will be held at the Desert Outdoor Center at Lake Pleasant. The $40 registration fee for the on-the-water portion will be collected before the evening classroom session at Cabela’s. Registration will begin at 6:00p.m. on first come, first serve basis. Cash or check only please.

Dates for 3-hour on-the-water sessions are: August 9, August 23, Sept 6 (choose from a 7a.m. or 9 a.m. arrival time)

(Sign up and pay at any of the Friday classes, on-water sessions fill up fast, so first come, first served)

Ages 12 & up, call 602-372-7470 for more information. If under 18 years then must be accompanied by an adult.

The Desert Outdoor Center is a gated facility, so you must be registered to attend the water sessions. Gates will be open 30 minutes before each session begins.

The boat dock is about a 1/4 mi down from the facility, so please be prepared for a short hike. There is no boat ramp access to launch a kayak at this facility, so please do not bring your personal kayaks.

Animal Flashlight Walk - San Tan
San Tan Mountain Regional Park
We are the nocturnal animals of the desert and we like to hide. Help Ranger Tish find us if you can! If you would like to learn about us and enjoy a night walk in the desert, then join Ranger Tish as she takes you on this exciting 1.3-mile hike along the Littleleaf/Goldmine Trail Trail. Please bring water, a flashlight, and closed-toe shoes. No pets, please. Meet under the Flag Pole.
