Summer Solstice Sunrise Hike - White Tank Mtn.
White Tank Mountains Regional Park
Greet the sun on the longest day of the year by joining Ranger Jessica on a sunrise hike on the Black Rock long loop trail (1 1/2 miles). We will have the opportunity to watch the sunrise from a viewpoint and see ancient petroglyphs along the trail. Ranger Jessica, a former archaeologist, will discuss how petroglyphs helped ancient cultures keep track of and celebrate this important day. Please meet promptly at Area 4 at 5:15am - the sun won't wait for us!

Beat the Heat Fitness Hike - Estrella
Estrella Mountain Park
The warmer months are upon us! If you hit the trail early, you can keep hiking through the summer! These fitness oriented hikes are perfect to get you out and help you maintain your fitness level. The hike will be approximately 3.5-miles. Meet your guide, Sandy K., at the Nature Center. Make sure to have plenty of water and a hat!

Part 1 of our 3 part series is "Planning & Gear". The wilderness does not tolerate the unprepared. So find out what it's going to take to make it out there. Meet in the Nature Center. Remember, fail to plan, plan to fail. This program will be followed by parts 2 & 3 of the series. ***“The County Parks are getting Wet ‘n’ Wild this Summer!” That means program participants will be eligible to win a 4-pak of tickets to Wet ‘n’ Wild Phoenix! 1. Tickets will be issued one per family. 2. Families can only win one set of 2014 Wet ‘n’ Wild tickets. 3. Visitors must attend the program in full and must be present to win. At the end of the program, the Interpretive Ranger will a winner. 4. One 4-pack will be issued per program. *Please Note: GPS and other mapping services may provide incorrect directions. Why are their numbers decreasing? If you would like to know the answers to these questions, or any questions you may have about monarchs, then this one-hour presentation is for you! Bring your sandwich to the “Brown-Bag It” series inside our Nature Center as Ranger B shares some amazing facts about these colorful creatures. Location: Nature Center.

Summer Solstice Sunset Walk - Spur Cross
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
June 21 Saturday 6:00 pm Summer Solstice Sunset Walk (easy) Come with us on this longest day of the year for a casual stroll along the Metate Trail and watch the sun set over the hills of the conservation area. Late afternoon is a prime time to watch for wildlife and take pictures so bring some binoculars and/or a camera.

Estrella Mountain Park
*PROGRAM CANCELLED* On this special edition sunset hike, you will see evidence of a past civilization, the Hohokam. The Park Ranger will take you to areas no usually accessible to the public. The trailis easy, but there will be some climbing involed, so be prepared. Hike is 1.5-miles round trip. Bring a flashlight, just in case! Meet at the Horsehoe Trailhead.
