Ancient Petroglyph Walk - McDowell- Youth Camp Area
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
McDowell‘s Hohokam petroglyphs are one of the best kept secrets in the Park. This is a very short (less than 1 mile) walk up a steep hill and in a sandy wash to see some rarely-seen smaller petroglyphs. Non-strenuous, but please wear sturdy shoes. Meet at Youth Group Area (last right-hand turn in park).

If you would like to know the answers to these questions, or any questions you may have about desert edibles, then this walk is for you! Join Ranger B on this quarter-mile stroll along the Desert Hawk Trail as he shares some useful facts about our edible desert plants. Please bring water and closed-toe shoes. Location: Nature Center.

Tortoise Talks Come meet our tortoises, Lily, Lady, McKenzie and Scarlett. Help Ranger Amy feed them lunch! Find out why you should never pick up a wild tortoise, and learn about tortoises that are looking for homes. Don’t forget your camera – our tortoises are very photogenic (and they move slowly so you can get great pictures). Meet out back of the Visitor Center.

Wednesday Wellness Walk - Estrella
Estrella Mountain Park
These walks are geared for anyone who wants to start walking their way toward better health and wellness. Meet at the Gila Trailhead and walk on the 0.5-mile barrier free trail. Get off the couch and get moving with others who have the same goals. As you build your fitness level, you can increase your distance. You are in control of how fast and how far you choose to go each week. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water. Leave your excuses at home. Meet at the Gila Trailhead.
