Early Bird Desert Birdwalk to Nursery Tank Pond. Bring your binocs and come on out. No previous birding experience is required, only an interest in birds! We’ll look phainopeplas (often called ‘black cardinals’) and signs of our resident birds nesting on this level, easy walk. Meet at the Nursery Tank Trailhead.

Fun with a Bow - Archery 101 8AM Class - Lake Pleasant
Lake Pleasant Regional Park
Sign Up Today - Limited Spots! Learn to shoot recurve and compound bows. This 1.5 hour class is the first step in learning archery. Wear comfortable clothes, closed toe shoes and bring some cold water. All equipment is provided. Call 602-372-7460 x 202 , and leave name, phone number, and how many people wish to attend. Ranger will call to let you know if there is room in the class (only 12 people per class). Follow the "Archery 101" signs from the main contact station to the group campground.

"Scrambled EGGstravaganza" Crafts and Games- San Tan
San Tan Mountain Regional Park
Rascal the Rabbit is up to his usual tricks and hidden some EGGStravagant treats inside the San Tan Visitor Center. In order to receive his EGGSeptional goodies, you must locate secret clues he left along the Interpretive Trail(roughly one quarter-mile round-trip). Check in at the Visitor Center to receive a special map to help you locate Rascal’s treasure. Stay after for some fun craft activities. Supplies are limited. Rascal's Adventure: Start your morning of adventure with this self-guided scavenger hunt. You'll collect stickers and place them on your map as you search for Rascal the Rascally Rabbit. Games and Face Painting: Test your skills at some of Rascal's bunny games. Then get your face painted to show your true blue bunny-side. Little Peeps Crafts: Explore the craft activities inside the Nature Center. Pony Rides with MD Ranch: Say "Hi" to the friendly horses and folks at MD Ranch as you saddle up for a ride. Rides are free but donations are always welcome to help feed the horses. Egg Hunt: Times/ages listed below. Oh that Rascal is a a funny bunny. He loves to play tricks on people. Can you find the special golden eggs among the other eggs he hid in the park? 9:30am - Chick Egg Hunt: Chidren ages 4 and under. 10:00am - Bunny Egg Hunt: Children ages 5 - 7 years. 10:30am - Jackrabbit Egg Hunt: Children ages 8 - 11 years. 11:00am - Duck Egg Hunt: Children ages 12 and older.

"Tails on Trails" - Dog Fitness Hike - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
Fit dogs are happier, healthier, and display fewer behavioral problems. “Tails on Trails” will provide the opportunity to meet other dog hikers and learn safe hiking practices as well as dog trail etiquette. This fun, 1-mile hike along the level Merkle Trail is great for beginner hiker dogs. Please bring a short non-extendable leash, a small cleanup bag, and water for you and your dog. One dog per hiker, please. Location: Area 6.

The Saguaro Cactus Hike - Estrella
Estrella Mountain Park
The Saguaro Cactus is the symbol of the Sonoran Desert. Whether you are visiting the area, just moved here, or have lived here all your life, this fascinating cactus has a lot of mystery surrounding it. Join the Ranger on a guided 2-mile walk where we focus our attention on the life cycle of the saguaro. Meet at the Nature Center, then we will re-locate to the trailhead.

Ever heard a bird fly by and thought..."oh, if I -only- knew bird songs"? Well, now is your chance. Learn bird calls and laugh at...I mean, along with, Ranger Amy, lifelong birdwatcher and self-proclaimed bird nerd and bird call imitator. We'll focus only on birds you're likely to see in your desert backyard. In addition to the presentation, we'll discuss free and/or inexpensive multi-media tools you can use to help you identify 'mystery birds' in the field. Meet at the Visitor Center. This multi-media program takes place in our Nature Center.

Pleasant Paddlers Program - Early Easter Egg Paddle
Lake Pleasant Regional Park
If you have a raft, kayak, canoe, or stand up paddleboard, come on out on Saturday for a fun time paddling to one of the islands and hunting easter eggs! All ages welcome as long as you have your own paddlecraft and PFD. Everyone must wear a PFD (life vest) when on the water during this program. We will launch from Fireman's Cove at the north end of Lake Pleasant (the large cove before you get to the 4 - lane boat ramp). Bring a bag and a smile, you will surely have fun on this crazy hunt. There will be some fun prizes for finding "special" eggs. This paddle will be around four miles and include the fun stop at "Easter Island." We leave the shore at 3PM, so come early to get your boat on the water. I will need several people to volunteer to help hide the candy filled eggs, we meet at 1PM. Call me if you can come early and help out.

April 19 Saturday 5:00 pm Sunset Over Spur Cross (easy) Come with us on a casual stroll along the Metate Trail as the sun sets over the hills of the conservation area. Late afternoon is a prime time to watch for wildlife and take pictures so bring some binoculars and a camera.
