"Taxing" 6-mile Fitness Hike - Estrella
Estrella Mountain Park
Need to break away from all the paperwork and enjoy some time outside? This fitness hike will be approximately 6-miles and help melt your tax troubles away! Meet your guide, Sandy, at the Nature Center, then re-locate to the trailhead. Hike will be on the Rainbow and Toothaker trails. Please make sure to bring plenty of water, snacks, and appropriate hiking attire, but leave your troubles behind!

LAKE PLEASANT PADDLE FEST EVENT
Lake Pleasant Regional Park
Come dressed to get wet! Lake Pleasant Paddle Fest Event is a fun event for all, with paid park entry fee. Saturday, April 12th from 8AM - 5PM. Come try out some different paddle craft and join in on the fun activities.

Here is the schedule:

LAKE PLEASANT PADDLE FEST 2014

SATURDAY, APRIL 12TH 8AM - 5PM

Location: Off Hwy 74 (Carefree Hwy) at MP 19, follow signs from the main entrance off Castle Hot Springs Road to the north entrance of Lake Pleasant to Fireman’s Cove.

5AM 2014 Annual Paddle Fest Fishing Derby at Lake Pleasant Presented by the Arizona Chapter of Heroes on the Water You must sign-in by 6:15 a.m. @ Fireman's Cove. Official start time is 6:30 am. Official finish time is at NOON. For more details contact Ed Elefante at elefantdude@yahoo.com.

Join knowledgeable guides from the Sonoran Audubon Society for an easy walk to discover the bird life of Estrella Park! When you think about it, everyone is a bird watcher- it's just more fun to know what you are looking at! Meet at the Nature Center. (Rain cancels event)

San Tan Shredders Mountain Bike Group - San Tan
San Tan Mountain Regional Park
Join us again for another exciting mountain bike ride among the beautiful San Tan Mountains. Most group rides are comprised of riders from all various skill levels, ages and fitness levels, but we all share the common interest of riding mountain bikes. “No Rider Left Behind” is our policy, because we ride together in groups based upon your riding levels. This is your opportunity to be around others who are passionate about mountain biking as a sport to have fun. We offer help when needed so you can gain new skills and confidence while on the trails. Come out and enjoy the great views of the San Tan Mountain Regional Park and the quiet get away from the everyday noise. This is a great way to get some exercise, have fun and meet some awesome people. A helmet is required for safety reasons and please bring plenty of water, an extra inner tube and 2 sources of light if this happens to be a night ride.

Rocks and Streams Walk - Spur Cross
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
April 12 Saturday 9:00 am Rocks and Streams Walk (moderate) Learn about the geology and streams of the Spur Cross region on a 2-hour walk with nationally-known earth science author, Thomas McGuire. Visit an abandoned gold mine, Nutcracker Rock and a Hohokam rock art site along Cottonwood Wash. Bring water and your natural curiosity. Meet in the Spur Cross parking area.

“Just for Kids” – Desert CSI (Critter Scene Investigations) - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
Calling all animal detectives! Join us on a wild search to find out which desert animals have crossed our path. Help investigate the clues that animals leave behind and go home an expert critter scene investigator! We will start with a live animal presentation that will get you ready for this adventure. Next, you will explore a secret area of the park looking for clues to find out what critters have been there. Who knows what will be around the next corner! Children ages 5-12 and their caregivers will enjoy this up-close experience with the animals that call our desert “home.” Please bring water, hats, and closed-toe shoes. Children must be accompanied by a caregiver. No pets, please. Uneven terrain on the trail is not conducive to strollers and wheelchairs. Feel free to bring a blanket or camp chair to use during the animal presentation portion of this program. You are welcome to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in the park after the program. Location: Group Picnic Area C.

April (Almost) Full Moon Hike - McDowell
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
Join us for our monthly Full Moon Hike and experience the desert in a whole new way. Flashlights are not necessary, but permitted. Bring plenty of water and sturdy shoes. Hiking time is 2 hours, and 3 miles. No pets please. Hikes begin at the Trailhead Staging area. Moonlit hike programs are free with $6/vehicle entry to the Park. Adult Moonlight Hike - White Tank Mtn.
White Tank Mountains Regional Park
Experience White Tank in a different light - moonlight! Join us on a 1 1/2 mile hike to experience the desert at night. Bring a flashlight, your scorpion light, and wear comfortable footwear. No dogs, please. This hike is limited to those 16 and older. Please meet at Area 4.

San Tan Mountain Regional Park
Discover the beauty of the Sonoran Desert at night, as we hike under the light from the full moon. Join us for a pristine 2.2-mile stroll along the Stargazer Trail. Listen for the sounds of wildlife and explore the night-life atmosphere. The pace of the hike will be relatively mild or slow to help you enjoy the surroundings. Flashlights are welcomed. Meet Ranger Tish at the Flag Pole.

Stargazing for Everyone! - Estrella
Estrella Mountain Park
Tony LaConte and Carole LaConte bring the universe to you! Learn star names, see the constellations, and listen to stories of the night sky. View the moon, planets, star clusters, nebula, galaxies and more through their telescopes. We encourage you to bring your digital camera and binoculars to enjoy the views. The stargazing programs are outdoor events, dress appropriately and bring chairs or blankets for your seating comfort. Event will be held at the Arena area.
