Early Bird Desert Birdwalk to Nursery Tank Pond- ADA Access- McDowell Park
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
Skip the sleeping in this Saturday, and be rewarded with some of our colorful desert species who are out taking advantage of the cooler morning temps, too. Grab your binocs and come on out. No previous birding experience is required, only an interest in birds! This easy walk is along our less-than-½ mile accessible trail. Meet at Nursery Tank Trailhead.

Reach Your Goal Fitness Series - San Tan
San Tan Mountain Regional Park
Do you have that goal to get in shape for 2014? Join the Ranger as we help you reach that goal with this bi-weekly fitness hike. We will start out slow and short and increase our distance over the next several months. We will slowly build up to our final hike on April 4th! What better way to get in shape, enjoy the outdoors and meet some great people. Up for the challenge? Make sure you have good hiking shoes and always bring plenty of water. The Ranger will give some tips on clothing and gear at the beginning of the hike. Meet at the Flag Pole.

Fitness Friday at Spur Cross
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
March 7 Friday 9:00 am Fitness Friday (moderate) Get your day started with a two to three mile brisk, non-interpretive walk. Participants need not be tri-athletes, just ordinary folks who would like to add diversity to their existing walking program. Wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water.

This difficult, 3-mile round-trip hike gains over 800 feet in elevation and presents some of the most spectacular scenery in the Valley! Please bring water, hats, snacks, and closed-toe shoes. Wildflower Discovery Walks- Wagner Trailhead– McDowell Park

Join Ranger Amy to identify the gorgeous desert flowers that are blooming in the desert. Every week, different species will appear as the wildflower season unfolds—it is always a surprise what we find! Call the park for updates. Be sure to bring your camera! Every week will be a new location in the park, based on where the prime blooms are, that week. Meet at the Wagner Trailhead.

Come out to the Nature Center and relax fireside with the Ranger. Bring your hotdogs, marshmallows, & s’mores! Don’t forget a beverage and be sure to bring the kids! This is your chance to ask questions of the Ranger in a casual atmosphere and just hang out for a while.

Just beyond our own backyards rages an amazing spectacle that few will ever see. Join us as we step into this hidden desert world teaming with life! This new “North America” series movie includes rare footage of a Sonoran Desert jaguar as well as the historic dust storm that hit this area in July, 2011.
