Home School: Owls: Silent Hunters of the Night - San Tan
San Tan Mountain Regional Park
Did you know owls can fly without being detected? Can owls hear mice and other rodents that are underground? How big do owls get and what do they eat? Do you know the difference between owl poo from owl pellets? If you would like to know all the answers to these questions and more, then this 3-part series class is for you. The first series we’ll explore the natural history of owls. The second series we’ll learn why owl pellets are important to science through the dissection. Then the final series we’ll be able to reconstruct a rodent skeleton and ID it. It’s recommended to attend each class though it’s not mandatory. Join Ranger Tish for this fun and informative class. Meet in the Nature Center. **Ages 8-up. **Class limited to 15

Meandering the Merkle - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
You never know what you’re going to find out in our desert! Join desert afficionado, Susan Peters, on this 1-mile/1-hour stroll along the Merkle Trail in search of desert plants, animals, and whatever else interests you. The Merkle Trail offers universal access and the hard-smooth surface of this trail will accommodate wheelchairs and strollers. Please bring your questions, a bottle of water, and closed-toe shoes. Location: Area 6.

Rock Art of Spur Cross
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
March 5 Wednesday 9:00 am Rock Art of Spur Cross (moderate) The petroglyphs found in Spur Cross were created hundreds of years ago by the Hohokam people. Come and walk in their footsteps as we visit a few of the more impressive sites in the park during this two-hour hike. No dogs on this hike please.

If you would like to know the answers to these questions, or any questions you may have about wolves, then this one-hour presentation is for you! Bring your sandwich to the “Brown-Bag It” series inside our Nature Center as Ranger B shares some amazing facts about these carnivorous canines. Location: Nature Center.
