MBAA Trail Maintenance Day - Estrella Competitive Track
Estrella Mountain Park
MBAA will be doing a trail maintenance project at the Estrella Competitive Track this Saturday. Everyone is welcome, even if you are not a mountain biker. Enjoy beautiful weather, scenery, and the company of others who are also interested in outdoor activities. As an extra incentive, lunch will be provided at the end of the work session. A limited number of tools will be available, but you can bring your own if you have any.

"Find Me Green Lucky Charms" Scavenger Hunt and Craft Activities - San Tan
San Tan Mountain Regional Park
Help Lucky the Leprechaun find his green lucky charms of Sonoran Desert wisdom. Lucky last saw his charms along the Interpretive Trail (roughly a quarter-mile in length). Don’t forget to pick up Lucky’s treasure map to help find his lucky charms at the San Tan Visitor Center. The charms contain interesting tidbits about some of Lucky’s favorite desert plants and wildlife. Stay after for some fun St. Patrick’s Day craft activities (supplies are limited). Please remember to bring plenty of water, sunscreen and proper hiking attire. Children must be accompanied by a parent(s) and remain on designated trails at all times. Fun for all ages… so remember to bring the entire family. Self-guided hike and craft activities are available between 9 a.m. & 12 p.m. Supplies are limited (first-come, first serve).

Geology of the East Valley Walk - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
Ever wonder about the fascinating mountains and rock formations in our area? Join geology professor, A. J. Lombard, as he shares a wealth of information about the geology of the East Valley on this 1-mile interactive walk. Bring your curiosities and questions to Usery Park and discover lots of amazing things about our local geology! The well-manicured Merkle Trail offers universal access and the hard-smooth surface of this trail accommodates wheelchairs and strollers. Location: Area 6.

The Desert Grocery Store – North Trail- McDowell Park

The Sonoran Desert is a virtual grocery store and pharmacy… if you know where to look. See (and sample) some of what people used to eat before grocery stores came to Phoenix, and find out which ones are still consumed. Try a chocolate chip cookie made with mesquite flour, or a cracker with agave nectar, along this easy, 2 mile stroll. Meet at the North Trail Trailhead.

Explore the Clay Mine! - Cave Creek Regional Park
Cave Creek Regional Park
Join us for adventure as we explore the Clay Mine! Inside we’ll discuss the history of this site and learn how its contents were used to “cure what ailed ya”! Bring water, a flashlight, and your camera. No pets, please. Park at the Nature Center and follow the directions at the trailhead kiosk to the “Clay Mine”. This program is in “open house” format so you may participate at your convenience during the scheduled time frame. The last tour is at: 2:30pm.

Adult Moonlight Hike - White Tank Mtn.
White Tank Mountains Regional Park
Experience White Tank in a different light - moonlight! Join park staff and volunteers on this several mile hike to watch the mmon rise and experience the desert at night. Bring a flashlight, your scorpion light, and wear comfortable footwear. No dogs, please. This hike is limited to those 16 and older. Location to be determined. Inquire at park entry station upon arrival.

Full Moon Hike - Estrella

Enjoy a night hike in the Sonoran Desert with only the full moon to light your path! This 2-mile Ranger guided hike will get you off the couch to enjoy an evening outdoors. Please make sure to wear comfortable shoes, bring water and a flashlight (just in case!). Meet at the Gila Trailhead.

Hiker’s Choice Full Moon Hike and Campfire - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
Here’s your chance to experience the desert under the glowing light of the full moon! We will offer both a self-guided and a guided hike – the choice is yours. Afterwards, enjoy the toasty flames of a campfire and a free marshmallow roast. Bring your flashlight, water, and closed-toe shoes for this 2-mile desert adventure. No pets, please. Location: Staging Area.
