Bird Walk with Sonoran Audubon Society - Estrella

Join knowledgeable guides from the Sonoran Audubon Society for an easy walk to discover the bird life of Estrella Park! When you think about it, everyone is a bird watcher- it's just more fun to know what you are looking at! Meet at the Navy North parking lot. (Rain cancels event)

February 23 Sunday 9:00 am Find the Ranger (easy) This open-house style program features the park ranger hiking along the Metate Trail and stopping to talk with park visitors. The ranger will have some photos of desert animals as well as some old photos of the Spur Cross dude ranch from back in its heyday. The ranger will also be available to answer questions about the park, discuss park history, and help identify desert plants and animals.

Welcome to the desert! This is a lush, diverse desert with lots of interesting residents. (And we’re not just talking about the animals!) This 1.3-mile hike will focus on the common plants and animals living here and the adaptations that allow them to thrive.

Think the desert is just brown and dull?...well, think again! Join Ranger Jessica for this family-friendly walk, geared toward young children. This walk will focus on nature appreciation through recognizing and matching colors. After our walk, we will have coloring time in the Nature Center classroom. Please meet in the Nature Center.

Join Ranger Amy to identify the gorgeous desert flowers that are blooming in the desert. Every week, different species will appear as the wildflower season unfolds—it is always a surprise what we find! Call the park for updates. Be sure to bring your camera! Every week will be a new location in the park, based on where the prime blooms are, that week. Meet at the Trailhead Staging Area.
