Progressive Fitness Hike #4 - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
Want to increase your fitness level and also enjoy the outdoors? Hit the trails with us for a fun way to get back in shape! During this hike series, each hike will increase in length and difficulty in order to help you prepare for the grand finale hike – the 7.5-mile loop trail around Pass Mountain! This is a great way to get in shape and to hike many different trails in Usery Park at the same time. This hike series will take place every Saturday morning through March 8. This fourth hike of the series will be approximately 5.5 miles. Please bring water, hats, and closed-toe shoes. Location: Staging Area. Note: Participation in the 4th or 5th hike in this series is required to do the final hike. Please be aware that this series involves elevation changes, uneven terrain, and a moderate pace. Participants are expected to stay with the group.

Archery 101 a - Cave Creek Regional Park

Interested in archery? Why not give it a try? Participants will experience a fun and safe basic introduction to recreational and international-style target archery. Equipment is provided. This program is open to anyone ages 8 and older. Children must be accompanied by an adult! Please bring water and wear closed-toed shoes. ***Advance registration is required! Doggy Walk at Spur Cross
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
February 22 Saturday 9:00 am Doggy Walk at Spur Cross (easy) What could be better than enjoying a leisurely hike with man’s best friend? Bring along your leashed and hopefully well behaved canines on this easy walk through the conservation area. Park Docent Coni Grossman & her husband Steve, a veterinarian from the Sonoran Foothills Pet Clinic, will be leading the walk and will be giving tips on hiking with your dog in the desert. Please be sure to bring plenty of water for you and your pooch.

White Tank Art Fair and Festival - White Tank Mtn.
White Tank Mountains Regional Park
Dozens of local artists will be exhibitng their works surrounded by the scenic backdrop of the White Tank Mountains. Items such as photographs, paintings, sculptures, and jewelry will be available for both viewing and purchase. This event, sponsored by the Friends of White Tank Park, will be held in the Group Campground in the park.

THIS CLASS IS NOW FULL, PLEASE SEE OTHER TIMES AND DATES. Sign Up Today - Limited Spots! Learn to shoot a recurve, compound, and cross bow. This 1.5 hour class is the first step in learning archery. Wear comfortable clothes, closed toe shoes and bring some cold water. All equipment is provided. Call 602-372-7460 x 202 , and leave name, phone number, and how many people wish to attend. Ranger will call to let you know if there is room in the class (only 12 people per class). Follow the "Archery 101" signs from the main contact station to the group campground.

Petroglyph Hike - Estrella
Estrella Mountain Park
On this 1.5-mile hike, you will see evidence of a past civilization, the Hohokam. The Park Ranger will take you the areas not usually accessible to the public. The trail is easy, but there will be some climbing involved, so be prepared with appropriate footwear. Meet at the Horsehoe Trailhead.

Exploring the Desert Hike - Lake Pleasant
Lake Pleasant Regional Park
Join Naturalist Frank as he takes you on a journey of exploring the desert. This hike starts at the Cottonwood Day Use Area. Bring water, a snack, and good hiking shoes. This is a moderate hike not too difficult.

Owls of the Desert - San Tan
San Tan Mountain Regional Park
You’re on the trail and you hear, “Hoo. Hoo. Hoo” coming from a nearby saguaro. You hear a strange “scr-e-e-ch “that sounds like someone with a raspy voice. Standing still on the trail, you wonder what could be making such bazaar sounds. Then you see a large shadow pass overhead without a sound. An owl. If you’d like to find out “hoo” our owls are in the desert, then join Ranger Tish for this exciting program. Meet at the Visitor Center.

Come and watch the night sky under the expert guidance of Tony La Conte. Look through telescopes and enjoy a slide presentation under the stars. Learn the names of stars, see the constellations, and listen to stories of the night sky. View the craters of the moon, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and the rings of Saturn. This is truly a fun night out!
