Cardio Care Fitness Hike for 55+ - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
Treat your heart to a needed dose of healthy exercise! In the beauty of our scenic Sonoran Desert we will enjoy this medium-paced cardio workout. This fun, 3-mile hike will create a loop involving four different trails within our park. Please bring water, hats, and closed-toe shoes. Location: Trail Staging Area.

Desert Edibles Walk - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
How have people survived off the land for thousands of years? Which desert plants are edible and when are they edible? If you would like to know the answers to these questions, or any questions you may have about desert edibles, then this walk is for you! Join Ranger B on this quarter-mile stroll along the Desert Hawk Trail as he shares some useful facts about our edible desert plants. Please bring water and closed-toe shoes. Location: Nature Center.

Fitness Hike - Cave Creek Regional Park
Cave Creek Regional Park
This way better than a treadmill! See how fun exercise can be in Cave Creek Regional Park. Come to one or all of the Fitness Hikes. All levels of fitness are welcome. We will set a moderate, steady pace, based on the fitness level of participants. Beginners are welcome. We will bring you out on a different trail each week and total 2.5 to 3.5 miles each week. Meet at the Nature Center.

Thursday Bird Walk - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
How do you tell one brown bird from the next, and what are the first three items to look for as the little rascal flits off? Are you already a novice but interested in keeping a yearly, state or country bird list? Bird expert, Sandy Hornbaker, will talk about bird habitat, behavior, range, etc. as we go in search of the native birds in this area. Please bring binoculars, water, and closed-toe shoes. Location: Trail Staging Area.

Plants of the Desert Hike at White Tank Park
White Tank Mountains Regional Park
This short but informative hike around the Black Rock Short Loop will give you an appreciation of the flora and how it adapts to the desert environment in White Tank Park. This is heavy in science and may not be of interest to young children. No dogs please. Meet in Area 4 at 10:00 am.

Most of the wildlife of the Desert is actually below your feet, while we hike above. Join Ranger Amy to discover the clues we can look for, right under our feet, to find out who is living Under the Desert Floor. Bring plenty on water and your curiosity, for this easy, less than 1 mile interpretive program on the Nursery Tank Trail.
