Birding Adventure - San Tan
San Tan Mountain Regional Park
Hit the trails early to catch the masters of the sky in action. This guided 1 mile hike will take you deep into the heart of prime birding territory. Enjoy learning birding skills from our local expert. Whether you’re after Roadrunners or Ravens, Humming or Hawks, San Tan holds the key to an unforgettable birding adventure.

Interested in archery? Curious as to how it feels to shoot a compound or recurve bow? Sign up for this fun “Archery 101" program. Participants experience a fun and safe basic introduction to recreational and international-style target archery. Equipment is provided. This archery program is open to anyone ages 8 and older. Find the Ranger - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
This open-house style program features our ranger hiking along the Wind Cave Trail and stopping to talk to park visitors. Our ranger will be available to answer questions about the park, identify desert plants, or even explain which animals call Usery Park “home”. Carry ample water. 9am-11am.

Trek Bikes is sponsoring the 2012 24hrs of Fury the weekend of November 3rd and 4th. All weekend they will have their new 2013 bikes on display and available for demo rides at McDowell Mountain Regional Park on in the Competitive Track.

McDowell Mountain Regional Park
In partnership with Trek Bikes, Muscle Milk and McDowell Mountain Regional Park, 4 Peaks Racing is proud to bring you the Valley of the Suns premier endurance mountain bike event - The 12 & 24 Hours of Fury! This event challenges participants to complete loops around the perimeter of one of Arizonas most popular courses: the Competitive Track at McDowell Mountain Regional Park. The only rule is a simple one - the most loops in 12 or 24 hours wins all the glory! COURSE The 12 & 24 Hours of Fury course is the perimeter loop of the McDowell Competitive Track, also known as sport-tech-long, the loop is 10 miles long.

Have you hiked all 20 miles of the beautiful trails at San Tan? Join the adventure and increase your skill level as we hike every trail in the park, while gradually increasing difficulty as we go along. This is the first hike in the series and will be 1.3-miles round trip. Please wear appropriate hiking attire and bring plenty of water.

True Creepy Crawlies of the Desert- McDowell Park
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
Meet the true creepy crawlies of the Desert in this indoor interpretive program for all ages. They may not be as scary as you think, once you see them up close...behind glass, of course. Find out why 'the smaller scorpions are the most dangerous' is an urban legend, what to do if you are bitten or stung, and why tarantulas may not be so bad after all. Ranger Amy will have some venomous critters such as scorpions, tarantulas, and snakes on hand so that you can get a closer look...if you dare!
