Fridays Fitness Hike – Trailhead Staging
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
Fridays Fitness Hike – Various locations in Park- ALL Fridays Come to one or all of the Fitness Hiking Series, every Friday. We build up to a longer hike at the end of the month. Please wear sturdy shoes & bring plenty of water. This week's hike starts at the Trailhead Staging Area.

Healthy Hiking at Spur Cross
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
November 2 Friday 9:00 am Healthy Hiking (moderate) Join us for a 2.5 mile / 1.5 hour aerobic walk through a portion of the Conservation Area. Participants need not be tri-athletes, just ordinary folks who would like to begin or add diversity to their existing walking program.

Trek Bicycles Demo weekend at McDowell
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
Trek Bikes is sponsoring the 2012 24hrs of Fury the weekend of November 3rd and 4th. All weekend they will have their new 2013 bikes on display and available for demo rides at McDowell Mountain Regional Park on in the Competitive Track.

"Just for Kids" - Little Desert Explorers - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
This 1-mile hike is designed for parents and grandparents with small children, ages 3 – 6 years. Using their senses, kids will discover lots of cool things about the plants and animals that call our desert “home.” We will explore the desert along the scenic Merkle Trail. The hard-smooth surface of this trail will accommodate wheelchairs and strollers. Please bring water, hats, and closed-toe shoes. Location: Area 6.

Wash Hike at White Tank Park
White Tank Mountains Regional Park
Step back in time on a walk down one of the few accessible desert washes in the Park. This will be a study in archeology and primitive habitats. This hike is difficult in that it is off trail in an area with very unstable footing. This hike is not recommended for young children or those with physical limitations. No dogs please. Meet in Area 9.

We in Arizona have bragging rights that we live in the ‘wild west’, with cactus that ‘jump’, and snakes that rattle. But how ‘dangerous’ is the desert, really? Join Ranger Amy for a “hands-on” introduction to the unique flora and fauna that make up this place we call the Sonoran Desert. Meet at the North Trail Trailhead.

All About Saguaros - "Brown-Bag It" with Ranger B - Usery Park

Why do saguaros grow arms? How old do they get? What are the unique strategies they use to survive and thrive in our desert? If you would like to know the answers to these questions, or any questions you may have about saguaros, then this one-hour presentation is for you! Bring your sandwich to the “Brown-Bag It” series inside our Nature Center as Ranger B shares his love for the “jolly green giant of the desert.” Location: Nature Center.

You can learn about the habits of some of the creatures of the desert by coming into the Nature Center during feeding time. (Caution – creatures are fed live animals so this could be upsetting to some people or small children). Nature Center.
