Competitive Track Closed - McDowell

A mountain bike race is being held in the Competitive Track on October 11th and 12th. So it is closed to non-participants for these two days.

Fun with a Bow - Archery 101 7AM Class - Lake Pleasant
Lake Pleasant Regional Park
Sign Up Today - Limited Spots! Learn to shoot recurve and compound bows. This 1.5 hour class is the first step in learning archery. Wear comfortable clothes, closed toe shoes and bring some cold water. All equipment is provided. Call 602-372-7470 x 211 , and leave name, phone number, and how many people wish to attend. Ranger will call to let you know if there is room in the class (only 12 people per class). Follow the "Archery 101" signs from the main contact station to the group campground.

Interested in archery? Why not give it a try? Participants will experience a fun and safe basic introduction to recreational and international-style target archery. Equipment is provided. This program is open to anyone ages 10 and older. Children must be accompanied by an adult! Please bring water and wear closed-toed shoes. ***Advance registration is required! Become a Jr. Ranger - McDowell
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
Bring your kids (ages 5-12) out to the park for this "on your own" program. Stop by the Visitor Center between 9-10am to pick up the Junior Ranger booklet. Head outside to complete the activities, and have fun! Return to the Nature Center when you're finished to pick up the Jr. Ranger badge you earned! Activities can be completed within 1-2 hours. (Please note the Nature Center closes at 3pm)

Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
October 11 Saturday 9:00 am Rock Art of Spur Cross (moderate) The petroglyphs found in Spur Cross were created hundreds of years ago by the Hohokam people. Come and walk in their footsteps as we visit a few of the more impressive sites in the park during this two-hour hike. No dogs on this hike please.

See the desert in a different light - moonlight! Please join park staff and volunteers for a 1 1/2 mile walk along the Waddell Trail. Bring your scorpion light to look for scorpions while we enjoy the desert at night. Please leave your dog at home. This walk is limited to those 16 years and older. Please meet at Area 7.
