Fridays Fitness Hike- Scenic Trail- McDowell
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
Fridays Fitness Hike – Various locations in Park- ALL Fridays Come to one or all of the Fitness Hiking Series, every Friday. We build up to a longer hike at the end of the month. Please wear sturdy shoes & bring plenty of water. This week's hike starts at the Trailhead Staging Area, and hikes the 4.8 mile Scenic Trail.

Reach Your Goal Fitness Series - San Tan
San Tan Mountain Regional Park
Do you have that goal to get in shape for 2014? Join the Ranger as we help you reach that goal with this bi-weekly fitness hike. We will start out slow and short and increase our distance over the next several months. We will slowly build up to our final hike on April 4th! What better way to get in shape, enjoy the outdoors and meet some great people. Up for the challenge? Make sure you have good hiking shoes and always bring plenty of water. The Ranger will give some tips on clothing and gear at the beginning of the hike. Meet at the Flag Pole.

Estrella Mountain Park
Need help completing your 100 miles in 100 days? Join the Ranger to hike another 3.5-miles toward your goal. If you are not familiar with Estrella Park, this is a great opportunity to explore some new trails. Meet at the Nature Center.

Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
January 24 Friday 9:00 am Friday Fitness Series #4 (moderate) Join us for this fourth of a series of Friday walks in January which will get progressively more difficult each week. This fourth walk will a combination of the Metate and Dragonfly loops for a total of about 4.5 miles. Wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water.

Usery Mountain Regional Park
Is there really a man in the moon? Join us as we study the movements and phases of the moon and then venture out to other areas of the space surrounding our planet! NOTE: Pre-registration is required through the Arizona Science Center. To register, please call the Arizona Science Center at (602) 716-2000 ext. 229, or email Arizona Science Center members: $20 for the first child, $10 for the second child, and $5 for each additional child. Non-members: $30 for the first child, $10 for the second child, and $5 for each additional child. There is also a $6 per vehicle entry fee to enter the park unless you have a county parks annual pass. Location: Usery Park Nature Center.

Do you drink coffee on your back porch Saturday mornings wondering about the names of the little birds flittering about? Bring your coffee to Usery Park and explore the endless possibilities of backyard birding with bird expert, Sandy Hornbaker. Learn how to attract different birds to your own backyard and what you must provide to your feathered friends. Ask Sandy what your responsibilities are as a backyard birdwatcher and what you can expect. Please bring binoculars and water. Location: Campsite 21 in the Buckhorn Campground.

Black Rock Archaeology Walk - White Tank Mtn.
White Tank Mountains Regional Park
This is an easy, 1/2 mile walk on a flat trail to one of the largest and most concentrated collections of Hohokam and Yavapai petroglyphs in the Valley. The hike will discuss early native peoples of the area and the possible meanings behind the ancient rock art symbols they left behind. Please meet at Area 4. No dogs, please.

Cave Creek Regional Park
Come out to the Nature Center and relax fireside with the Ranger. Bring your hotdogs, marshmallows, & s’mores! Don’t forget a beverage and be sure to bring the kids! This is your chance to ask questions of the Ranger in a casual atmosphere and just hang out for a while.
