Thursday Morning Fitness Hike - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
Want to get in shape and stay in shape? Want to meet others who want to do the same? Join us for this fun 2-3 mile moderate-pace hike through our scenic desert. Please bring water and closed-toe shoes. Location: Staging Area.

The “New Year” has arrived and we’re going to help you with your “fitness resolutions”! We will be hiking a variety of trails with varying degrees of difficulty, so lace ‘em up and meet us at the Nature Center to get started! Bring plenty of water! Kids (including parents and caregivers) will learn about our desert through a fun story, game, and a short nature walk. Feel free to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy after the program as we have three shaded playgrounds in our park. Please bring water and closed-toe shoes. Location: Nature Center.

Mobile Phone Photography Workshop– McDowell Mtn Regional Park
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
Most of the photos that get posted to McDowell Mountain Park’s Facebook page were taken on Ranger Amy’s iPhone. It’s amazing what you can capture with the camera you are already carrying around in your pocket. Learn how to make the most of your megapixels with just a few lessons in composition and style. And what better setting to learn photographic technique than in a beautiful natural park setting! Wear comfortable walking shoes, dress appropriately, and bring a smartphone with photo-taking abilities and the photo application(s) of your choice for this hands-on workshop. Meet at the North Trail.

Ride with the Ranger on a Horse- San Tan
San Tan Mountain Regional Park
Enjoy the beautiful scenery of the San Tan Mountains as you navigate the park atop your trusty steed. Our ranger and the professionals from MD Ranch will guide you through the Sonoran Desert on a trail ride you will never forget. Learn about the plants and animals that call San Tan home, and grab your cowboy hat for this exciting ride through the park. Horses must be reserved ahead of time through MD Ranch at (480)331-7893. Spots are limited. Trail rides are available any time. Call to set up your own personalized horseback adventure.
