Fridays Fitness Hike – Wagner Trail
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
Fridays Fitness Hike – Various locations in Park- ALL Fridays Come to one or all of the Fitness Hiking Series, every Friday. We build up to a longer hike at the end of the month. Please wear sturdy shoes & bring plenty of water. This week's hike starts at the Wagner Trailhead in the Campground loop.

Friday Fitness Series #3
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
January 18 Friday 9:00 am Friday Fitness Series #3 (moderate) Join us for this third of a series of Friday walks in January which progressively get more difficult each week. This third walk will be the Dragonfly/Spur Cross loop for a total of about 3.5 miles. Participants need not be tri-athletes, just ordinary folks who would like to add diversity to their existing walking program. Wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water.

Home School Program with the Science Center: "Marvelous Human Body" - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
Explore systems of the human body to learn how we function. Complete activities to better understand the circulatory, respiratory, digestive, nervous, and skeletal systems. Recommended for ages 6-10, accompanied by an adult. NOTE: Pre-registration is required through the Arizona Science Center. To register, please call the Arizona Science Center at 602-716-2000 ext. 229, or email campbellm@azscience.org. Arizona Science Center members: $15 for the first parent and child and $5 for each additional child. Non-members: $20 for the first parent and child and $5 for each additional child. There is also a $6 per vehicle entry fee to enter Usery Mountain Regional Park. Location: Usery Park Nature Center.

Basics of Bird Watching - Usery Park
Usery Mountain Regional Park
Interested about getting into bird watching but don’t know where to start? Want to know which bird is which and how to spot them? Join bird expert, Sandy Hornbaker, for this introduction to bird watching as she guides you on a quarter-mile stroll along our Desert Hawk Trail. Bring binoculars if you have them, otherwise, Sandy has some to loan. Please bring water and closed-toe shoes. Location: Nature Center.

Desert Wash Walk at White Tank Park
White Tank Mountains Regional Park
Step back in time on a walk down one of the few accessible desert washes in the Park. This will be a study in archeology and primitive habitats. This hike is difficult in that it is off trail in an area with very unstable footing. This hike is not recommended for young children or those with physical limitations. No dogs please. Meet in Area 9.

Join Ranger Amy for a “hands-on” introduction to the unique flora and fauna that make up this place we call the Sonoran Desert. Meet at the North Trail Trailhead.

Our ranger and the professionals from MD Ranch will guide you through the Sonoran Desert on a trail ride you will never forget. Learn about the plants and animals that call San Tan home, and grab your cowboy hat for this exciting ride through the park. Horses must be reserved ahead of time through MD Ranch (480-331-7893). Spots are limited. Trail rides are available any time. Call to set up your own personalized horseback adventure.

3 Dog Nights Hike! - Cave Creek
Cave Creek Regional Park
Ranger Mark is going to take his dogs for a hike on the Overton Trail (3.5 miles). You and your friendly dog(s) are invited to join them! We will experience a bit of elevation and watch the city light up as the sun sets. Bring sturdy shoes, flashlights, water for you and your pets, and leashes are required. Don’t forget, you will be required to clean up after your pet, so come prepared. Woof! Meet at the Nature Center.
