How to Teach in Maricopa County
The
Maricopa County Superintendent of Schools Office (MCSOS) provides an array of fiscal and educational services
to the citizens and school districts of Maricopa County. However, it does not preside or hold jurisdiction
over the school districts. Rather, the districts are run by their community-elected governing boards. Due
to the self-government of the school districts, each district is responsible for the hiring of its
administrative, certified and classified employees. If you are seeking employment at a public school
or school district, please contact the human resources department of the school district with whom you'd
like to submit an application. For a listing of Maricopa County School District contact information,

Teacher Certificates - Recorded
According to
ARS 15-502.B, the Superintendent
maintains teacher and administrator certification records of teachers and administrators certificates
in compliance with guidelines prescribed for those school districts for which the superintendent is
the fiscal agent. Certificates are submitted through your school district or teachers may appear in
person to record certificates at the superintendents office.
Each school district payroll is monitored to ensure that an active
certificate is recorded and on file with the County School Superintendents Office.
For information on certification requirements, contact the Arizona
Department of Education, Certification Unit at (602) 542-4361 or visit their website at
