Background

The Finance Division of the Maricopa County School Superintendent's Office provides fiscal services to 41 school districts pursuant to Arizona Revised Statutes. The County Superintendent's Office provides and maintains financial accounting and payroll systems for school districts in Maricopa County in order to perform monitoring functions required by statute. The goal of the Finance Division is to provide unparalleled customer service to the school districts. This takes dedication, knowledge and the focus to achieve. We are dedicated to the idea that we can always improve on performance. Our team is knowledgeable in what we do, and strive to constantly increase that knowledge as things change in the school district environment. We focus on improvement by listening to needs, understanding the districts that we serve, and working as a team.

  • Monitor spending of budget and cash controlled funds according to ARS 15-304Leaving MCSOS Site
  • Monitor payroll to verify that each certified employee has an active ADE teaching certificate filed with the county superintendent according to ARS 15-302.09 Leaving MCSOS Site and 15-502.BLeaving MCSOS Site
  • Report to the County Treasurer for school districts serviced, the detailed dollar amounts of all warrants written on each Treasurer Fund according to ARS 15-914.01Leaving MCSOS Site
  • Receive cash receipt data from the County Treasurer for the recording of school district revenues according to ARS 15-914.01 Leaving MCSOS Site and Article 4.
  • Provide for the control and printing of school district warrants according to ARS 15-914.01 Leaving MCSOS Site and Article 4.
  • Reconciliations of monthly fund cash balances between the County Treasurer and the local school district accounting systems according to ARS 15-914.01 Leaving MCSOS Site and Article 4.
  • Provide computer system for the preparation, calculation and reporting for school district payrolls for over 13,000 employees.
  • Monitor Federal/State Project Completion Reports for school district compliance with procedures and agreement with financial records (Auditor General and ADE).
  • Determine eligibility for transportation aid for pupils living in unorganized territories and process transportation claims for reimbursements.
