Small Schools Consortium

Dr. Sandra Dowling established the Maricopa County Small Schools Service Program and the Small Schools Consortium to support the needs and activities of small schools in Maricopa County. ARS 15-365

Administrators from each of the eight small school districts meet to share ideas, train, and collaborate in the development of consortium-based and school improvement activities. The Small Schools Administrator has ongoing contact and communications with district administrators, and visits school sites regularly.

The Small Schools Administrator serves as a liaison between consortium districts and the Maricopa County School Superintendent's Office as well as with the Arizona Department of Education. Maricopa County Education Service Agency staff attend meetings, conferences, and workshops on behalf of the consortium of districts and report and act on pertinent information. Current major activities of the Small Schools Consortium include those noted below.
