Maricopa County Gifted Education Consortium
As an authorized LEA, the Maricopa County Superintendent
of Schools, applied for and received Gifted Education funding for those county school
districts in accordance with ยง15-779 Additional Assistance For Gifted Programs.
The law states that as an alternate to the individual district application process,
a governing board may request that a county school superintendent apply on its behalf
as part of an educational consortium.
These additional funds provide professional development
to charter schools and districts within our Maricopa County Gifted Education Consortium
to enable them to be able to deliver high-quality instruction for gifted and talented
children grade levels K-12.
Environmental, cognitive and emotional factors have
a direct effect on learning. Our Gifted Education workshops highlight principles
and strategies that engage students in the learning process. True knowing comes
from active participation, collaborative involvement and personal reflection with
the experience. Team development and staff collaboration in the field
of interactive learning enhances the effect of interactive teaching
and brain-based learning strategies implemented by the school faculty. Our
professional development workshops are open to non-members of the consortium
for a nominal fee. We communicate directly with schools via e-mail to announce
our workshop opportunities.
