County Departments
Air Quality

Regulates and enforces air quality standards for businesses and individuals in Maricopa County. They also are responsible for monitoring following pollutants: Carbon Monoxide, Nitrogen Dioxide, Ozone, Particulate Matter (PM-10 and PM-2.5) and Sulfur Dioxide.

Animal Care & Control

Offers a variety of services to the community including:Adoption programs to place dogs and cats in loving homes, Shelter for lost and stray animals complete with bottomless water and food, Spay and neuter surgery to prevent more unwanted animals, Pick up of stray dogs to find them a safe place to stay and Rabies vaccinations for dogs and cats.

Citizen Complaint Line

Receive and routes environmental complaints from citizens, which are occurring in Maricopa County. Typically, the types of complaints reported relate to the improper handling or preparation of food at a restaurant, unhealthy conditions at public pools, excessive breeding of mosquitoes or flies, or illegal dumping.

Emergency Management

Coordinates response and recovery activities through implementation of emergency response plans during and after emergencies. Implementation requires the support and assistance of many other county departments, local jurisdictions, the private sector and volunteer agencies.

Food Safety and Environmental Health

Manages investigations of Foodborne Illness Outbreaks; inspections of Day Care Homes; Special Event Food Booths, Supervised Care Home food operations, and Food Processors. Education and training programs for food handlers and Environmental Health Specialist Registration Instruction. Also, conducts all inspections for restaurants and public and semi-public swimming pools.

Maricopa Integrated Health System

The health care safety net for citizens of Maricopa County. The health system serves people of many races and nationalities who come from diverse cultures and speak several different languages. It includes Maricopa Medical Center, the Arizona Burn Center, the Comprehensive Healthcare Center, the McDowell Healthcare Clinic, 10 community-oriented family health centers, and an attendant care program.

Parks and Recreation

Home to the largest regional park system in the United States with more than 120,000 acres.

Vector Control

Investigates citizen complaints dealing with mosquitoes, flies and non-native rodents such as roof rats.
