We have all heard the phrase, “It's a dry heat,” and it is true that heat here in our desert is dry, but it is also deceptively dangerous. Heat is the single most dangerous natural phenomenon in Arizona. Each year, between 30 and 50 residents die from excessive exposure to heat.

Maricopa County Departments of Public Health, Emergency Management, Human Services, Animal Care & Control, and the Sheriff's Office have partnered with the State of Arizona, Valley cities and towns and the National Weather Service to remind residents about the importance of taking the heat seriously.
 
Where to Find Help
 
The Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) Continuum of Care Regional Committee on Homelessness has developed a map of resources available for those in need. This map shows where each of the water hydration stations and refuge locations are located throughout the county, and where people in need can go for water and shade.
 
Where To Help Those In Need
 
The MAG Continuum of Care Regional Committee on Homelessness has also developed a map that shows where water collection and donation sites are located in the county. This map is useful to people who want to donate items like water, sun block, lightweight clothing, etc.
