for medical providers and healthcare professionals.

Below are descriptions for some of the programs and training that we offer for healthcare
and dental professionals.
Basic Tobacco Intervention Skills Certification:
- This training is designed for anyone interested in assisting a tobacco user in the
quitting process.
- The goals are to provide techniques on how to conduct brief interventions for tobacco
users. The trainees will receive information on how to provide motivation and non-judgmental
support.
- The participants will also learn about available intensive services and resources.
- Four hours of CME or CEU credits are provided.
Tobacco Treatment Specialist Certification:
- Requires certification in Basic Tobacco Intervention Skills.
- This training is designed for professionals who are interested in providing intensive
services within their organization.
- This training teaches the key elements of evidence-based treatment approaches.
Speakers Bureau - Continuing Education Program:
- Teaches healthcare professionals to promote tobacco control best practices.
- Provides specific information for at-risk population.
- Provides 1-1.5 hours of Continuing Medical Education and Continuing Education Units.

Additionally, the Maricopa County Tobacco Use Prevention Program, in cooperation
with the Maricopa County Office of Oral Health, provides dental professionals with
FREE tobacco and oral health continuing education
(CE) classes.
