What is Women Together for Health?

Women Together for Health (TFH) is a free multi-week program provided by the Maricopa County Department of Public Health to address some of the leading health behaviors that contribute to chronic disease. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, seven out of 10 preventable deaths in the United States are related to tobacco use, poor nutrition and lack of physical activity. That accounts for more than 60% of medical care expenditures.

Women Together for Health (WTFH) targets women of child-bearing age (18-44 years old) and covers proper nutrition, healthy weight, physical activity, stress management, and tobacco use. Participants learn skills to improve their lifestyle in a fun, interactive environment. Since July 2003, five hundred sixty-four women have participated throughout Maricopa County and preliminary results show improvement in dietary quality, physical activity, and managing stress.

Mission

Empowering women for a healthier tomorrow. To provide support and experiential learning for people to begin making positive changes to increase physical activity levels, reduce stress, improve dietary quality to work toward a more healthful weight, increase consumption of fruits and vegetables, and quit smoking.

Vision

Women Together For Health will be recognized nationally as a successful program that provides tools for women to embrace healthy lifestyles for themselves, their families, and their friends.
