Walking Everyday Living Longer (W.E.L.L.) Arizona
Brief Description
A Maricopa County Health Educator will facilitate the program and meet with the walking group at a weekly meeting. This meeting time will be coordinated between the facilitator and a representative from your office (maybe yourself). The time and place to meet will be the same each week.
This is a study by ASU, Healthy People 2010 and the state Health Department.
The participants will be required:
- To complete a pre survey and post survey.
- To log the number of steps they are taking each day. A pedometer, which counts the number of steps, will be provided for the length of the program.
- To receive an okay from their physician IF they have a medical condition that will be identified by a questionnaire. The participant does not need to bring a letter from the physician, just initial a paper that says the condition has been discussed and the physician encourages a moderate walking program.
- To attend each week for the approximate hour of meeting time.
- There will be a 10 minute walk on the second visit, a 20 minute walk on the third visit, and a 30 minute walk on the fourth visit.
