 Walk Everyday Live Longer (W.E.L.L.)
Walk Everyday Live Longer (W.E.L.L.) is an innovative five (5) week walking program designed to increase participant’s physical activity level. This fun yet intense exercise program allows individuals to set personal goals utilizing a pedometer to track weekly progress. This program can be offered in a variety of locations, such as worksites, churches or with other community groups. A minimum of 10 participants is necessary to start a program at your location.
The participants will be required to:
- Complete a pre survey and post survey.
- Log the number of steps they are taking each day wearing a pedometer (a small instrument that tracks each step a person takes).
- Receive an okay from their physician IF they have a medical condition that will be identified by a questionnaire.
- Attend weekly meetings.
A Maricopa County Health Educator will supply program materials, facilitate the program and meet with the walking group. The meeting time will be coordinated between the facilitator and a representative from your site (maybe yourself). The time and place to meet will be the same each week.
Class Format:
- (Meeting 1): Orientation and receive your pedometer
- (Meeting 2): Set goal and walk (10 minutes)
- (Meeting 3): Set goal and walk (20 minutes)
- (Meeting 4): Set goal and walk (30 minutes)
- (Meeting 5): Conclusion
