All babies in Maricopa County who spend more than 72 hours in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) are eligible for the Newborn Intensive Care Program (NICP). At the time of the baby's discharge from the hospital to home, the hospital provides a referral to the Community Health Nurse.
Community Health Nurses visit the home periodically to monitor the infant's health and development for up to three years of age, depending on the infant's and family's needs.
We provide:
- Health Assessment
- Developmental Screening
- Developmental Education
- Referrals to Community Resources
