New Hope Program
The purpose of MCACC’s New Hope Program is to find permanent homes for animals that are not adopted under regular shelter circumstances, and to acknowledge, cooperate with, and support the efforts of other animal care, training, rescue, welfare, and control organizations. The New Hope Program is a partnership between MCACC and other animal welfare agencies to help ensure that as many adoptable animals as possible are placed into permanent and loving homes. New Hope partners take animals from MCACC that might otherwise have to be euthanized.
Partner Organizations
Animal organizations that are established or recognized in their communities as animal shelters, animal welfare organizations, animal rescue organizations, and veterinary hospitals within the State of Arizona may be eligible to participate, subject to approval, by MCACC.
Any group that is interested in becoming a New Hope Partner can request the New Hope Application by contacting the Alternative Placement Manager at 602-506-PETS or LLong@mail.maricopa.gov. Click here to see a list of our New Hope partner organizations.
Eligible Animals
Animals scheduled for euthanasia may be eligible for New Hope. Bite animals or aggressive animals (aggression to others dogs and aggression to humans) are not eligible for New Hope or adoption. Depending upon the circumstances, exceptions may be made by the Shelter Manager based on the results of an evaluation.
Any decision to waive the legal holding period for humane reasons will be made solely by the recommendations of the MCACC veterinary team and will be managed on a case-by-case basis by the Alternative Placement Manager or Shelter Manager. Any animal that is currently going up for adoption may be available for New Hope after the first hour of adoption. MCACC reserves the right to deny New Hope status on a case-by-case basis.
