Scorpion Scavenger Hunt! - McDowell Park
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
Scorpions are a lot more fun to find when you spot them glowing under a blacklight, scavenger-hunt style (outside, rather than in your house)! Learn all about these venomous creatures and what makes them so well-adapted to life in the Sonoran Desert. Did you know that we commonly see three different species? And that all scorpions--even fossils of scorpions--glow under a black light? Bring a flashlight or a blacklight, and wear sturdy shoes. This short walk will be less than a mile in length. Meet at the Trailhead Staging Area.
