Maricopa County employs over 13,000 people who generate a large amount of waste throughout each workday. The environmental mantra of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle (R3) has been around for decades, and while it is very important to recycle this should be the third option. The most sustainable choice path would be to reduce, then reuse, and then recycle. The Maricopa County Green Government Program has identified specific measurements to improve R3 effectiveness.
