Permits
An operating permit must be obtained from the Drinking Water Program for:
- New Community Public Water Systems
- New Non-Transient Non-Community Public Water Systems
- New Transient Non-Community Public Water Systems

Issuance of Permits
New Public Water Systems are issued an initial operating permit after a New Source Approval has been issued by the Department for the PWS.
Vehicles hauling water for drinking or "potable" uses must obtain a permit to operate. In order to qualify for a permit, the vehicle must be inspected and comply with all regulations listed
in Chapter V, Section 2 of the Maricopa County Environmental Health Code and title 18, Chapter 4, Section 125 of the
Arizona Administrative Code.
Approvals
A plan review approval must be obtained for the drinking water progran for:
- Drinking Water Source Approval (NSA)
- Public Water System Operational or Compliance Plan
Drinking Water Source Approval Application
Application submitted to obtain approval to connect a new or reconnect an existing drinking water source, such as a ground water well or a water treatment plant, to a Public Water System.

Approval To Construct/Approval Of Construction Applications
Application forms submitted to obtain Approval To Construct or Approval Of Construction for water distribution system pipelines, pressure reducing valve stations, ground water production facilities
and other water system infrastructure can be downloaded from the Forms/Applications page of the
Subdivision, Ifrastructure and Planning Program
Application forms submitted to obtain Approval To Construct or Approval Of Construction for water treatment facilities can be downloaded from the Forms/Applications page of the
Water and Waste Treatment Program.

Public Water System Operational or Compliance Plan
Application submitted to obtain approval a Public Water System Operational or Compliance Plan such as Site Sampling, Backflow Prevention, Emergency Operations or any other required by the Safe Drinking Water Act.

the Drinking Water Program directly for more information related to specific Operational or Compliance Plans.
