About Us


The Maricopa County Environmental Services provides essential, regional environmental services seeking to prevent and remove environmental health risks. The Department’s Environmental Health Specialists and Field Technicians are in the community every day making sure that among other things, food in all the eating and drinking establishments in the County is protected from contamination, that water supplies throughout the County are safe to drink, and that vector borne health illnesses and risks are minimized. It is our belief that with continued support, future generations will reap the benefits of today’s actions.

Approximately 200 people staff the Department, which consists of four divisions:

MISSION STATEMENT:

The mission of the Environmental Services Department is to provide effective environmental management to the people of Maricopa County so that residents may enjoy living in a healthy and safe community.

Department Goals:
  • Continuously seek opportunities to increase environmental awareness and regulatory compliance for food/water sanitation and vector control concerns.
  • Implement the Department's business plan, staffing, and space requirements, while maintaining an annual productivity rate sufficient to meet the mandated State Implementation Plan, statutory and State delegation agreement levels while staying within budget limits.
  • Manage department programs to meet the increasing demand for essential environmental services resulting from Maricopa County growth.
