Cari Gerchick | Communications Director

Cari Gerchick is the Communications Director for Maricopa County. She works with local and national media on a daily business to share information about Maricopa County and to respond to County related questions. Prior to her current position, she spent five years as the Communications Director for the Arizona Supreme Court where she worked with courts at all different levels and across the state.

In addition, Cari served as the Chief Deputy for the Clerk of the Superior Court and as a Policy Analyst for Richard M. Romley, Maricopa County Attorney. Cari has also served as the Director of Alumni Relations for the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at ASU, from where she earned her law degree. She earned her Master’s Degree in Public Administration and her Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, graduating magna cum laude, at the University of Arizona.

Richard de Uriarte | Communications Manager

Richard de Uriarte is Communications Manager for the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, a position he accepted in August 2008 after 30 years as a reporter, editorial writer and reader advocate at The Phoenix Gazette and The Arizona Republic. During his career, he has covered and commented upon state and local government, demographics, politics, minority issues, immigration and media coverage itself.

He has taught media ethics and diversity issues at the Walter Cronkite School of Mass Communications & Journalism at Arizona State University. For 18 years, he has been a volunteer coach at the Boys & Girls Club Branch in South Phoenix. He is married to the former Frieda Garcia of Santa Fe and they have four daughters and six grandchildren.

Terri Mulholland | Press Secretary

Terri Mulholland has served Maricopa County in management, professional, and executive positions for over 30 years. Currently, she serves as the Maricopa County Press Secretary where her duties include writing and editing publications including press releases, columns, brochures, flyers, speeches and scripts for the board of supervisors and county management. She is also responsible for planning and supervising groundbreakings, dedication ceremonies, national and local conferences, and other special events.

Terri Mulholland has spent her career working as a communications specialist for a number of county departments and programs. Prior to her current position she served 15 years as Maricopa County Public Information Director, Public Information Officer for the Maricopa County Limited Jurisdiction Courts, Employer Services Representative for the Human Services Department and Special Projects Coordinator for the County Manager where she assisted in the planning and coordination of the National Association of Counties’ National Convention. More than 3,200 County Officials from throughout the nation attended this conference.
