Maricopa County's Office of Enterprise Technology (OET) is responsible
for and authorized to plan, manage, and control enterprise information
technology resources.
The OET develops and promotes policies and standards, through governance,
which are designed to continually align IT performance with the County’s
strategic priorities. The value propositions associated with these activities
are more efficient business processes, better quality products and services,
improved financial outcomes, and ultimately, higher customer satisfaction for
all stakeholders. The net results sought are seamless and transparent
collaboration among all County business communities.

The County employs a federated structure to manage information technology.
Reflecting the overall business model of decentralized County management, the
federated approach balances the benefits of local autonomy with the advantages
of enterprise-wide IT coordination and management. The federated model
simultaneously allows responsiveness to business issues and accountability to
local management, while establishing a convergent IT direction and optimized
infrastructure. The approach keeps decision-making as close as possible to the
business unit while integrating the fabric of the County technology
infrastructure and standards.
