MEETINGS: The Commission meets when there are matters requiring discussion or at the call of the chairman. Meeting notices will be posted in the lobby area of 301 W. Jefferson Street at least 24 hours in advance of a meeting, announcing the date, time, and location.

FORMATION AUTHORITY: Approved by the Board of Supervisors on December 15, 2004.
COMPOSITION: 17 Members:
Two members of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors.
Two members of the judiciary - one representing the Maricopa County Superior Court and one representing Limited Jurisdiction Courts;
Two members from the Maricopa County Adult Probation Department - one of whom will represent the Pre-Trial Division;
One Mental Health Court Coordinator for Maricopa County Superior Court;
One member from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office;
One member from the Maricopa County Attorney's Office;
One member from the Maricopa County Public Defender's Office;
One member representing the mental health advocacy community;
One member from the state Department of Health Services;
One member from Value Options;
One member from the Maricopa County Correctional Health Services Department
One member from the Maricopa County Office of Management and Budget
One member from the Arizona State Legislature
One member representing local law enforcement
DUTIES AND POWERS: The commission shall act in an advisory role to the Board of Supervisors on matters pertaining to individuals identified as seriously mentally ill and their interactions, or possible interactions, with the Maricopa County Justice System. The commission shall make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors as appropriate.
