DEFERRED COMPENSATION COMMITTEE

MISSION: To determine method of payment of compensation benefits under Sections V, VI and VII of the Maricopa County Deferred Compensation Plan (Members are County employees).

FORMATION AUTHORITY: This committee was established by the Board of Supervisors under the Deferred Compensation Plan, Section XIV, as amended September 24, 1984.

COMPOSITION: Voluntary Deferred Compensation Plan, Section XIV: “A. Deputy County Manager B. Finance Director C. Human Resources Director D. Risk Management Director E. Five county employees appointed by the Board of Supervisors. In the event of a vacancy among positions a), b), c) or d), the Director of Public Works shall serve as an interim member until such vacancy is filled. In the event of two vacancies among these positions, the Director of Public Health shall serve as an interim member. Termination of employment of a committee member shall immediately terminate his status as a committee member. No committee member shall be eligible to vote in any matter pertaining to his/her own Deferred Compensation Agreement.” Note: there is no specified term of office.

DUTIES AND POWERS: Voluntary Compensation Plan, Section XIV: “The principal function of the Committee shall be to determine method of payment of compensation benefits under Sections V, VI, and VII. The Committee shall perform such other administrative functions relating to this Plan as shall be delegated to it by Employer from time to time. Termination of employment of a Committee member shall immediately terminate his status as a Committee member. Any five members of the Committee shall constitute a quorum for all purposes. No Committee member shall be eligible to vote in any matter pertaining to his/her own Deferred Compensation Agreement.”
