Using the Java Viewer
OS/Browser Compatibility
Maricopa County has tested the following combinations of operating system and
web browsers combinations with the Autodesk MapGuide Java Viewer
- Mac OS X
- Firefox 1.5.0.7
-
Map views ok. Doubleclick feature is intermintent. I assume this is based on
the size/placement of the hidden layer creating the popup link
-
Safari 1.3.2
-

-
Opera 9.02
-
Map views ok. You have to hold "shift" down and doubleclick. Appears to work
anywhere within property boundary.
-
Labels (parcel#) do not always work - could be the older Mac though.
-
May have to click screen to activate control. Firefox and Opera have popup
asking to allow/trust the Mapguide applet. Safari has no prompt and
you have to click the center of the screen at least once (sometimes more) to
activate/load the control.
-
May get prompt to allow popups from maricopa.gov - must click yes or they will
not get property data when they try.
-
Again the intermittent doubleclicks noted in the browsers above appear to be
because the layer the click box/polygon does not fully incorporate the full
boundaries of the visible parcel lines. Someitmes it seems that it is either on
top of, or very near the visible parcel number or the visible lot number.
The Java Version of MapGuide does not work with Mac OS 9 or lower. Known Java Viewer Issues:
There are a few features that work differently on the Java version of the
MapGuide viewer.
-
Java provides no mechanism for copying maps to the Clipboard. The Copy >
Copy command in the popup menu will not appear when the map is viewed with the
Java Edition.
-
Depending on the system that you are using, the quality of the colors may vary.
-
Depending on the operating system that you are using, the positional accuracy
of the text may vary. On the Macintosh operating system, the bounding box of
text features is much larger than that on Windows. Therefore, the text will
appear to be in a different location because there is more white space between
the text and its insertion point. For this reason there are no dimensions
available on the Java Edition of the MapGuide map. Dimensions can be viewed by
referring to the originally recorded documents or by turning on the Map ID #s
layer, selecting the Select tool and then double-clicking on the Map ID over
the parcel. A pdf of the map will open in a new window
