ASSESSOR’S OFFICE JOB DESCRIPTION
GIS Assistant
JOB SUMMARY :
Uses Assessor maps, GIS and various
computer application systems to research property titles and determine parcel
boundries for the assignment of Assessor parcel identification and to research
and gather information for data entry.
PRIMARY DUTIES : The
following duties are representative of the range and scope of duties performed.
They are illustrative only, and are neither all-inclusive nor does every
position perform all duties described:
Split or combine parcels to correspond with
deeded legal descriptions and plats. Assign new parcel numbers and ownership
information into computer system.
Read and interpret non-complex Cadastral
parcel maps. Assist in copying and scanning of maps. May compute acreage or
square footage calculations.
Research and gather required
information for the creation of new parcels. Research,
gather and enter split data into Assessor Secured Property system. Assist in
quality control and correction of mapping conversions.
Routinely contact outside organizations to obtain digital
information. Research inquiries from property owners, title companies and other
government agencies. Listen and communicate effectively with written and oral
skills to customers, public, business representatives, staff, and supervisors.
Complete special projects as requested by supervisor.
REPORTING STRUCTURE :
Under the supervision of the GIS Manager. Responsible for
the completion of specific duties or tasks with periodic updates.
CONTACTS :
A. Internal : Field and internal Appraisers,
support staff and other GIS staff.
B. External: Taxpayers, other government agencies, companies in the
real estate industry (lenders, appraisers, title companies) and engineering
firms.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
PC experience required.
- Education:
High School Diploma or GED
- Experience:
Minimum of five years of increasingly responsible
clerical or administrative experience.
- Specialized Training:
Total experience minimum may drop to two years
if it includes six months of experience in an ad-valorem assessment environment
or one year of experience in the real estate industry.
PAY*: Min $11.00 Mid $13.25 Max $16.14
