Judy Bender joined the Maricopa County Assessor’s office in March 2007.
She began her career in public service approximately 14 years ago working for
the Yavapai County Assessor in Prescott, Arizona. Prior to joining government
service, Judy worked in the telecommunications industry in Colorado and
Arizona.
After seven years with Yavapai County, she joined the Arizona Department of
Revenue Property Tax Division. Eventually, job opportunities returned her to
Prescott where she re-joined the Yavapai Assessor’s staff as a Systems
Manager for several years prior to joining Maricopa County.
Judy has served in many positions at the Assessor and State level including;
managerial, supervisory, computer assisted mass appraisal and IT project
positions.
During her tenure at the Arizona Department of Revenue, Judy managed the Central
Information Services Unit where she was responsible for the state-wide computer
assisted mass appraisal system, Assessor assessment administration, including
data processing, tax calculation and billing needs for twelve of the fifteen
County Assessor and Treasurer Office’s across the State of Arizona.
Property types included real, personal and property centrally valued by the
Arizona Department of Revenue.
During her off time, Judy enjoys a love of the outdoors hiking and paddling,
rooting for the Denver Broncos, in addition to traveling in the United States
and abroad.
Judy has been a member of the International Association of Assessing Officer's
(IAAO) for approximately 5 years and is currently the Vice President for the
Arizona Chapter of IAAO.
