Design Requirements & Standards

A number of design standards are explicitly identified within the Chapter VI, "Bathing Places - Public and Semipublic Swimming Pools," of the Maricopa County Environmental Health Code.

General Requirements


General design requirements applicable to all pools, spas and bathing lakes are detailed in the Maricopa County Environmental Health Code (MCEHC) Chapter VI, Section 3, "General Design Standards and Specifications," MCEHC Chapter VI, Section 4, "Water Circulation, Disinfection and Chemical Conditioning" and MCEHC Chapter VI, Section 5, "Bathhouse and Dressing Room Facilities."

Public Swimming Pool Requirements


Design requirements applicable only to public swimming pools are detailed in the MCEHC Chapter VI, Section 6, "Public Swimming Pools." Design requirements applicable only to semi-public swimming pools are detailed in the MCEHC Chapter VI, Section 7, "Semi-Public Swimming Pools."

Wading Pool Requirements


Design requirements applicable only to public and semi-public wading pools are detailed in the MCEHC Chapter VI, Section 8, "Wading Pools."


Spa Requirements


Design requirements applicable only to spas are detailed in the MCEHC Chapter VI, Section 9, "Spas."


Special Use Pool Requirements


Design requirements applicable only to public and semi-public special use pools are detailed in the MCEHC Chapter VI, Section 10, "Special Use Pools."

Water Slide Requirements


Design requirements applicable only to water slides are detailed in the MCEHC Chapter VI, Section 13, "Water Slides."
